It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Firefighter David Banks, Sr.
DAVID J. BANKS, SR., 75, of Woodland Park died Thursday. Born in Paterson, NJ, Mr. Banks resided in Woodland Park for the last 52 years. He retired as a Foreman with the City of Newark Water Department. Mr. Banks was a Veteran of the United States Army.
He was a member of Living Water Church of North Arlington; a member of Rifle Camp Fire Co. #3 of the West Paterson Fire Department; a member of the West Paterson and New Jersey State Exempt Fireman's Associations; Troop #59 Boy Scouts of America of Woodland Park and a member of American Legion Post #238 of Woodland Park.
He was predeceased by his three brothers: Warren, Russell and Roland Banks and his daughter in law, Clarene Banks, in 2010.
Survivors include: his wife, the former Lila Weir; his two sons, David J. Jr. and his wife, Odalys of Bloomfield, NJ and Joseph R. Banks of Hopatcong, NJ; his sister, Victoria Muti of Ramsey, NJ; his mother in law, Jennie Weir of Woodland Park, NJ and three step grandchildren: Kier, Amir and Adam Elmonairy.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Monday at Bizub-Parker Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Little Falls. Interment to follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa. Visitation on Sunday from 2-6 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to New Jersey Fireman's Home, 565 Lathrop Ave., Boonton, NJ 07005-2245 would be appreciated.
